The Roques de Garcia is a great hike to explore one of Tenerife’s famous landmarks: The Roque de Cinchado! The area is known for so-called Phonolite rocks that were formed by lava shooting up vertically and quickly cooling. Due to erosion, these lava domes are now visible.
This short easy trail is doable for anyone! There is no significant elevation gain, the paths are also not technical.
The Original Crater Floor of El Teide is roughly 500 meters (1500 feet) lower than what is perceived today, it has grown over time due to eruptions. The Roques de Garcia formations reach that deep into the ground! Parking is free and ample – as usual in Spain
